Making Stuff Better Case Study

One to One Coaching at Berlin International School

The Brief

Biljana Torbakova is Secondary Vice Principal at Berlin International School. A busy and diverse school in the heart of Europe, Biljana was looking ways to develop herself as a leaders, as well as find more opportunities to reflect and step out of fire fighting mode.

What we did

Biljana embarked on our 6-month programme of 1:1 leadership coaching. This involved 2 one hour zoom calls each month with one of our lead coaches Matt Hall (also a very experienced international school senior leader), as well as membership of our online community. As Biljana states, she really valued  “the non-judgemental nature of discussions – I always feel that my growth is central to what we discuss”. This enabled her to explore ideas, strategies and concerns in a safe and supportive environment.

The result

When reflecting on the greatest learning during her coaching Biljana reflects –

“Letting go of fears, working through perceived obstacles and deconstructing ideas (finding that I had created things in my head as true, when in fact, I imagined things to be true that were not)”.

Through working closely with Matt, Biljana has learned that “working on these issues regularly allows us to let them go”
